Our Discovery Sea Cave Kayak Tour is a shortened version of our Adventure Sea Cave Kayaking Tour, with 1.5 hours of paddling instead of 3 hours. Channel Islands National Park offers a diverse array of recreational activities from birding to hiking to snorkeling to exploring the history of the island. Our Discovery Sea Cave Kayak Tour is great for first timers to the island who want to be able to experience numerous activities on the island. Also if you prefer a later start or just want a shorter kayaking tour at the Islands then this trip is for you!

Adventure Sea Cave Kayak
Our Adventure Sea Cave Kayak Tour is our most popular Channel Islands National Park tour. We’ll spend a half-day exploring the sea caves around Scorpion Anchorage on Santa Cruz Island. No other area of the park offers as many sea cave kayaking opportunities. Some of the most beautiful sea caves in the world can be found at Scorpion Anchorage.
Year-round. 7am ferry check-in (8am departure) or 8am ferry check-in (9am departure) from Ventura Harbor. Meets daily at 10:30am on Santa Cruz Island

Ultimate Sea Cave Kayak
Our Ultimate Sea Cave Kayak is for the true ocean adventurer or someone looking to really grow their ocean kayaking skills. This tour is perfect for spending a full day exploring the island by kayak or campers who will be spending more than one day on the island. We’ll explore incredible sea cave and kelp forests along our route to the famous Potato Harbor, a less visited and more rugged area of the Park that allows for a truly breathtaking and memorable experience. Bring your lunch and snorkel gear.
Meets on Santa Cruz Island at 9:30am. Requires 8am ferry departure from Ventura Harbor or prior nights camping on Santa Cruz Island.

Painted Cave Kayak Tour
Get ready for a full day at sea. Explore Painted Cave, one of the largest sea caves in the world! Painted Cave is within a Marine Protected Area and also a part of the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary. Enjoy breakfast & a hot lunch, as well as whale watching on the boat ride where you may spot sea lions, otters, dolphins, marine birds and whales. Snorkel the protected kelp forest after kayaking the massive sea caves. This is an adventure you will remember for a lifetime.
7:30 am- 5:00 pm, departs from Santa Barbara Sea Landing.

Birding by Kayak Tour
On Sunday, June 3 ONLY
Our Kayak & Birding Tour is a SPECIAL one day experience (Sunday, June 3 only) focused on kayaking with an emphasis on viewing birds from the water in the Scorpion Anchorage area.The Channel Islands’ isolation over thousands of years has created a unique environment for rare species of birds. Our 2.5-3 hour kayaking and birding tour gives you the opportunity to explore Santa Cruz Island’s birding sanctuaries from the view of a kayak. As you paddle along the rugged shoreline, find Brandt’s and Pelagic Cormorants nesting on the cliff edges and Pigeon Guillemots flying in and out of their nests in rock wall crevices as we paddle through sea caves, California Brown Pelicans flying above and diving into the crystalline waters surrounding the Channel Islands, with the occasional Peregrine Falcon or Osprey appearing. After getting off the water, we’ll explore the island on foot in search of the endemic Island Scrub Jay! The kayaking and birding tour is an incredible opportunity for birders to take their passion to the next level in this truly diverse and unique part of California’s coast.
